UPDATED: Walker, Subbert named all-state

DES MOINES — The Iowa Girls Coaches Association released the all-state, as well as all-district volleyball teams last Monday.

Red Oak’s Kate Walker, Grace Blomstedt, Stanton’s Carmen Subbert and Rachel Sorensen, as well as Villisca's Amanda Focht were chosen for the all-state teams in their classes. Walker was picked to be part of the third team for Class 3A, while Subbert was chosen for first team in 1A. Blomstedt was an honorable mention in Class 3A, while Sorensen was a third team selection and Focht an honorable mention for Class 1A.

Subbert makes her third appearance on the list as she joins Grundy Center’s Samantha Meyer and Heather Hook, Gehlen Catholic’s Katelin Langel and Tripoli’s Courtney Anderson and Bailey Kirchoff.

Walker was joined on the team by Mount Vernon’s  Hannah Whitley and Marissa Stark, ADM’s Allison Gottschal, Sioux Center’s Jillian Estes, Union’s Breann Bader and Davenport Assumption’s Kate Fennely.

Both Walker and Subbert were also chosen for the all-district team in their classes.

Walker was the only Red Oak athlete to be chosen in the Class 3A West District.

Subbert and Sorensen, as well as Roey Sink and Ragen Anderson were on the all-district team for Southwest Iowa in Class 1A. Focht also made the team.

Stanton Head Coach Jody Druivenga was selected as the District Coach of the Year for 1A Southwest Iowa.
Both Red Oak and Stanton made it to the state tournament this season, but lost in the quarterfinals.
