Two major accidents in county Monday afternoon

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle rollover accident early Monday afternoon, and a crash two hours later at L Avenue and Highway 34 resulted in the highway being closed.

At 12:15 p.m., emergency responders from Stanton and Red Oak were called to the accident scene at the intersection of 220th Street and Nature Avenue, south of Stanton.

Details at the 3 p.m. press time were limited. One driver was thrown from his vehicle during a rollover. The drivers of both vehicles were transported by LifeNet helicopter to an Omaha hospital.

Stanton and Red Oak first responders were assisted at the scene by Montgomery County Emergency Management, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.

At about 2:10 p.m., emergency responders were called to the crash on Highway 34. The Express went to press prior to any details being available. However, it is known that two vehicles were involved, and that LifeNet helicopter was summoned to the scene.

Early Sunday morning, there was a fatal crash in Taylor County that resulted in the death of Clintin David Marshall, 23, of Corning.
