Tigers win Mustang rematch 4-2

A week that started well for the Red Oak baseball team ended on a sour note with three consecutive losses.

Behind the pitching of Nick Crouse, the Tigers beat Shenandoah 4-2 Monday night.

It was a rematch for Crouse and the Tigers, after losing previously this year to the Mustangs.

“Nick pitched the first time we played Shenandoah this year and he knew it wasn’t his best game, so we decided to have him go again, and he did a great job,” Coach Darrell Berry said. “He was hitting his spots and had great control.”

Crouse pitched all seven innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits. He fanned 11 hitters while walking just two.

Cody Walford led the offense with three singles in three at bats, while Tanner Johnson singled twice, reaching base three times in the win. Zack Wood and Colby Wise would both score a run and drive home a run as well.

Tuesday night, the Tigers lost to Creston 11-2.

Jackson Miller was tagged with the loss, giving up six earned runs on three hits in two innings of work. He walked four and struck out three.

Dakota White pitched four innings in relief, giving up five runs on seven hits.

Miller and Johnson each scored in the game, with Wood and Wise providing the RBIs.

Wednesday night, Red Oak hosted Glenwood in a makeup game, and struggled wit ha 13-3 loss.

Glenwood tagged Tiger starter Colby Wise with three hits and four runs in the first two innings, and kept the offense rolling against Wood, who came on in relief. After four innings, the Rams led 7-0.

Cody Walford doubled home a pair of runs for Red Oak and Johnson scored a run and drove one home as well.
