Tigers Rolenc falls at state singles
WATERLOO — Red Oak boys’ singles tennis player Weston Rolenc’s stay at the state tournament was short, as he was eliminated in consolations Friday in Waterloo.
In his first round match, Rolenc lost 6-1 and 6-3 to Knoxville’s Jared McClung.
In the consolation round, Rolenc faced Ben Albright of St. Edmond. Albright won the match 6-0 and 6-0.
Rolenc is the third state qualifier for boys tennis in the previous three seasons.
Last year, Jordan Nelson was the state qualifier in singles after he took eighth at the state meet. In 2013, Pete Walker finished fourth at the state meet.
Rolenc reached the state tournament when he won the district title May 14 in straight sets over Creston’s Ryan Kucera.
