Tigers; Eight All-District

RED OAK – Individual efforts of a handful of Tiger football players were recognized as Red Oak has one first-team and three second-team all district award winners.

Senior Lucas Orme was recognized on the first-team defensive line by the 2A District Eight coaches, leading the Tigers with 107 tackles, which was third most in the district, and the most by a defensive lineman.

Sophomore linebacker Seth Esaias (94 tackles, seventh in the district) and senior defensive lineman Josh Nix (79 tackles, tied for 14th in district with teammate Cole Meek) were named to the second-team.

The only offensive Red Oak player named to the first two teams was senior Jackson Miller, who captained the Tiger offensive line at center.

IKM-Manning led all teams with seven players voted to the first-team award winners and 15 players total to the all-district teams.

Freshmen Tanner Johnson and Nick Leinen were Honorable Mention district players. At quarterback, Johnson was fifth in the district with 549 passing yards. Leinen was voted in at linebacker with 48 tackles in six games played.

Juniors Matt Goracke (wide receiver) and Meek (linebacker) were the last two representatives of Red Oak on the Honorable Mention list.

Meek had 79 tackles, seven of those were for a loss, tying Alex Scharfenkamp of Kuemper Catholic for 11th in the district in that category and leading all Tiger tacklers.

Goracke led the Tigers, catching 16 passes (sixth in the district) for 150 yards for two touchdowns on the season.
