Tiger girls win round one region
The Red Oak Tigers girls basketball team hosted the Creston Panthers Saturday, Jan. 11, in first round regional action and advanced to round two with a 57-43 win.
The Panthers jumped to a lead and carried it through part of the second quarter, but a 17-0 run by the Tigers in the middle of the second quarter had the Tigers take the lead and extend it to a 29-19 halftime lead.
The second half held short runs by both teams, but the Tigers never lost the lead or their sight of the win.
Hannah Vial led with 17 points for the Tigers.
Sierra Athen netted 11 points and Sophie Walker chipped in 10.
Athen pulled down seven boards and had four steals, while Allie West grabbed six rebounds and a steal.
The Tigers are 18-4 on the season and play in Shenandoah tomorrow night in the second round of regional play.
