Three Griswold Tigers place at John J. Harris Wrestling Invitational
CORNING – Griswold’s lightest and heaviest wrestlers, Tanner Potter and Alex Freund, were two of the Tigers three tournament placers at the John J. Harris Invitational Saturday.
Potter (103 pounds) finished the highest for the the Tigers taking fourth in his weightclass.
Potter won in the first round, before losing to Darrian Irlbeck (Tri-Center) in the secondin a 15-0 technical fall.
He fought back through the consolation bracket, to face Irlbeck again in for third place.
Irlbeck won the second meeting, 20-8, leaving Potter in fourth place for the Tigers.
Freund finished fifth in the 285-pound bracket as he defeated East Mills’ Brandon Visocky 15-7.
Christian Van Scyoc (215 pounds) was on the fast track to the finals until he ran into the knee of Jon Meyers (Coon Rapids), knocking him unconcious.
Van Scyoc forfeited his last two matches, due to the concussion, as he finished sixth.
The Tigers finished 15th of the 22 teams, scoring 48 points as a team.
