Thoughts from gazebos to politics

A few random thoughts... I don’t agree with the city wanting to remove the gazebo and replace it with playground equipment.

The park on the square is more for adults than children. There is already playground equipment there, and I rarely see children playing there. There is room for more playground equipment without taking away our gazebo anyway. Besides, do we really need to spend the money on this?

I haven’t personally met Joni Ernst, but would like to. Some folks say they’re embarrassed by her “pig farmer” proclamation. I’m thinking. The fact that she’s adept at castrating hogs should “put the fear of God” in some of those Washington folks.

I agree with the editorial and the letter about our economy. We need to return manufacturing jobs back to America. Not wishing to jump on the bandwagon about the “illegals” issue, but the fact is there are more “people” than “jobs” available in our country right now. Common sense should tell you that if you returned 10 million illegal immigrants to their homeland, that would create at least a few million job vacancies.

I don’t agree that religion and government should be kept totally separate (it doesn’t actually say that in our Constitution anyway. Jesus was right when He called lawyers “a brood of vipers”). I’m not saying politicians should preach or force their beliefs on others, but a true Christian can’t live religiously on Sunday, then leave Jesus at home when they go to work. I want people in office who have Christian morals and ethics. I think our nation would be better for it.
