Think globally, but shop locally

In the new economy of large chain stores and impersonal shopping experiences, downtown Red Oak offers an alternative choice that many of us take for granted.

Red Oak's one of a kind downtown is an integral part of its distinctive character.

The charm and historical significance are things that cannot be replicated by new construction. Cities with vital, thriving downtown's are attracting new residents and are growing their populations. We cannot forget about the downtown as we continue to grow Red Oak.

Furthermore, when you shop locally, you are in turn creating jobs, funding city services through sale tax, investing in neighborhood improvement and promoting community development.

Money spent in downtown Red Oak is distributed to those people who are employed in downtown Red Oak, who in turn will spend it in downtown Red Oak.

While it is easy to drive to Omaha and Council Bluff for our shopping needs, I am urging each Red Oak community member to try to make an added effort to find and patronize downtown Red Oak businesses this Christmas season and throughout the new year. We strive to offer an alternative, community based atmosphere in which to shop and dine. We are asking for your support.
