Ted A. Brewer, 63
Ted A. Brewer, 63, of Emerson, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
Ted Alan Brewer was born to Harlan and Linda (Kornegay) Brewer June 23, 1948, in Humboldt, Neb. He was raised in Nemaha, Neb., and graduated from the Stella, Neb., High School in 1966.
Ted attended college at Southeast in Milford, Neb., before serving with the Seabees in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
In 1972, after returning from Vietnam, he started working for Mace & Hahn Implement in Red Oak. In 1973, he started working for Nebraska Tractor and Equipment in Omaha.
Ted married Karen Herbert Aug. 14, 1974, in Elk Point, S.D.
He started T & K Repair in Emerson in 1984, and retired in 2008 for health reasons.
He was a member of the Emerson American Legion Post #575, the VFW, the DAV and the Diabetes Association.
Ted enjoyed Nebraska football, tractor pulling, NASCAR racing and music, including Polka and Country.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Lois Herbert; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Chatterton.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Brewer, of Emerson; step-son, James Lynn (Kelli) Skalberg, of Coleman, Ala.; grandson, James Skalberg, Jr., serving in Afghanistan, and his wife, Jessica, of Red Oak; granddaughter, Spring Dawn Skalberg, of Coleman; great-grandson, Carter James Skalberg, of Red Oak; sisters, Bonnie (Jeff Johnston) Brewer, of Elmwood, Neb., and Judy (Joe) Schlosser, of Shubert, Neb.; brothers-in-law, Ken (Cheryl) Herbert, of Villisca, and Gene Chatterton, of Red Oak; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Monday, Jan. 23, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
