SWV runner-up at Fillie Invitational
SHENANDOAH — The Southwest Valley girls golf team took second, while Red Oak finished fifth at Thursday’s Fillie Golf Invitational at the American Legion Country Club in Shenandoah.
Southwest Valley posted a score of 423, finishing behind Clarinda, who had a 379. Red Oak meanwhile had a 500, finishing ahead of both SWI and Glenwood.
Two Southwest Valley golfers and one Red Oak golfer placed in the top 10 individually. Taylor Damewood (101) and Kelsie Kinman (102) were seventh and eighth, respectively for the Timberwolves. Ellen Fellers represented Red Oak, finishing ninth with a score of 104.
Gentry Johannes missed out on the top 10 for Southwest Valley as she took 12th with a score of 106. Bailey Heaton was 18th for the Timberwolves with a score of 114. Southwest Valley’s Janelle Gibler tied for 22nd with Emma Leisinger of Abraham Lincoln with a 118.
Kim Hults was the only other golfer for Southwest Valley as she shot a 124 to place 29th.
Red Oak’s Lauren Gilbert (119) was one stroke back of Gibler and finished 25th.
Additionally for Red Oak, Reilley Black was 29th with a score of 127 and Sadie Uhlenberg tied for 42nd with a score of 150.
East Mills was represented at the meet, but didn’t have enough golfers to record a team score. Joni Laughlin was the top finisher for East Mills as she shot a 133 to place 35th.
Teammate Ashley Moorman was 36th and one stroke back.
Elizabeth Walker had a 144 to place 39th.
