SWV falls short versus Panorama

 VAN METER — The Southwest Valley baseball season ended Saturday night when they lost 9-3 to Panorama in Van Meter to start the opening round of 2A District baseball.

Panorama advances to play Van Meter Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner of the game plays the winner of Ogden and West Central Valley in the district Final Saturday in Van Meter.

Stats from the game weren’t available as of press time.

The Timberwolves finish the 2014 season with a 4-17 record.

They will be losing four seniors on the team, including Evan Baldwin, William Roberts, Drey Barton and Keegan Longabaugh.

Bedford 7, Southwest Valley 6

The Timberwolves lost their last regular season game to Bedford 7-6, last Thursday.

Bedford scored two runs in the sixth inning, which put them ahead and gave them the regular season sweep.

Ryan Carlson went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Baldwin and Longabaugh were both 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Bryan Pearson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Nick Frederick went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Colten Drake went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Southwest Valley 8, Central Decatur 7

The Timberwolves rallied from four runs down in the final inning to get the win last Wednesday.

Southwest Valley scored five runs in the seventh.

Carlson led the way by going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a RBI.

Longabaugh went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Baldwin was 1-for-4 with three RBIs. It was Baldwin who got the win in relief for the Timberwolves.

Pearson, Barton, Lane Peterson and Clint Mullen all contributed hits in the game.

Wayne 12, Southwest Valley 0

Southwest Valley started the week with a shutout loss in five innings to Wayne, last Tuesday.

The Falcons scored two runs in the fifth to ensure the victory via the 10-run mercy rule.

Pearson and Baldwin had the only hits in the game for the Timberwolves.
