Supervisors approve communications system agreement with Motorola

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors have approved a communications system agreement with Motorla Solutions to upgrade the county's communications system.

The proposal for the project, at a cost of $5,823,001 includes three new towers, and a systems upgrade agreement with post warranty. The proposal passed by a 3-2 vote, with Supervisors Mark Peterson and Steve Ratcliff voting no.

Following a public hearing, the supervisors approved a resolution approving a preliminary official statement for general obligation emergency services communications bonds. The resolution was approved unanimously.

After hearing public comment in favor of a bond repayment schedule that was shorter than the proposed 15-year schedule approved during prior amortization rate discussions, the supervisors approved a 10-year repayment schedule for amortization scenario discussion.

More details on meeting will be available in our upcoming Jan. 30 issue.
