Subbert, Focht and Vanderhoof named first team all-conference

MONTGOMERY COUNTY—Players from Villisca, Stanton and Essex were selected to the All-Conference girls basketball team, released by the Corner Conference, last week.

Stanton’s Carmen Subbert, as well as Villisca’s Amanda Focht and Jill Vanderhoof and Essex’s Seana Perkins were all unanimous selections for first team all-conference. Macy Williams of Fremont-Mills was the other unanimous first team selection.

The rest of the first team is represented by East Mills’ Devin Laughlin, Nishnabotna’s Molly Goltz and Sidney’s Shelby Anderson.

For Subbert, Vanderhoof, Focht and Goltz, it’s their second straight season on first-team all-conference. Laughlin, Williams and Anderson are all on the first-team list for the first time. Williams is the lone freshman on this list. Also, there are no seniors selected for first team.

Stanton had two players selected to second team all-conference.

They were Ragen Anderson and Rachel Sorensen. Other first team selections include Villisca’s Morganne Haer, Essex’s Haley Fundermann, Fremont-Mills’ Taryn Williams and Andrea McClary, Clarinda Academy’s Tamika Marsh and Nishnabotna’s Alexia Blank.

For honorable mentions, Stanton’s Sara Sederburg and Essex’s Kym Graham lead the list. Other honorable mentions are Katie Sowers and Stephanie McGrew of East Mills, Ashley Gilbert of Nishnabotna and Rachel Finnell of Sidney. This is the second straight season that Sederburg was named an honorable mention.
