Stanton downs Bulldogs

The Stanton Viqueens hosted the Bedford Bulldogs in volleyball action on Thursday, Sept. 15. and posted wins on all levels.
The varsity won 25-16, 25-9 and 25-14.
“At the varsity level, we were trying some new things on the court, and the girls were able to execute them well, so we were happy to see that,” Coach Jody Druivenga said. “All our hitters are looking to improve their hitting efficiency every match and they all did a nice job with that tonight.”
Ally Focht collected six kills, ten assists, four digs and two blocks in the match, while Jody Vanderholm brought down six kills, and collected four digs. Chelsea Weis had five kills and seven digs, and Savanna Moffett had two kills, 14 assists, six digs and seven ace serves.
“Our defense was moving quicker and our passing was much improved from last weekends’s play,” Druivenga stated. “We were able to get all twelve varsity players in the match and all of the younger players did a great job and played their positions well.”
One of those younger players was freshman, Anika Wenstrand, who brought in three kills and four blocks for the Viqueens.
The Viqueens are 8-7 on the season with a full week of volleyball ahead of them.
