Stanton’s Hallquist receives distinguished service award

Stanton resident Kevin Hallquist received the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA).

Hallquist, a long time volunteer for the athletic program at Stanton, was presented his award Friday night by the University of Iowa Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz.

Hallquist has volunteered for Stanton athletics for more than 30 years, serving in various roles, such as a coach in softball, football and baseball. He’s also worked as an announcer for football, basketball and baseball and even was the head timer for all Stanton track meets.

Hallquist is a 1975 graduate of Stanton High School and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1979. He was a four-sport athlete at Stanton.

Hallquist and his wife Cindy have two daughters, Nichole and Erin.
