Sports Calendar: Thursday, January 26
Here's a look at what's going on for area teams on Thursday.
Bowling: Red Oak vs. Tri-Center @ Tri-Center- 3:30 p.m.
Both Red Oak varsity bowling teams are fresh off wins against Denison-Schleswig Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Taylor Mellott is coming off of a big achievement from the win over Denison-Schleswig. Mellott bowled his first ever 300 game during his second series. We'll have much more on that in Tuesday's Red Oak Express.
Red Oak will go for the season sweep with their encounter against Tri-Center.
Wrestling: Red Oak vs. Lewis Central vs. Atlantic @ Red Oak High School- 5:30 p.m.
With the season winding down, this will be Red Oak's last home meet for the season. It will also be their last regular season meet, before the postseason begins.
Atlantic enters the duals Thursday night having lost once during the season. Their lone loss was to Creston-Orient Macksburg on Dec. 8.
After this Red Oak will be competing in the Hawkeye Ten Tournament in Clarinda Saturday.
Basketball Doubleheader: Red Oak vs. Tri-Center @ Tri-Center High School- 6 p.m.
Girls
The girls' are fresh off a big win Tuesday night over the Stanton Viqueens. However, they'll play a Tri-Center team that has won three of their last four games, including a 39-30 win over Treynor, last Friday.
Emily Baatz will be the player to watch for Tri-Center. Baatz is averaging 10 points per game for Tri-Center.
Boys
Red Oak's boys' team looks to recover from their overtime loss against Villisca Monday night. They'll take on a Tri-Center team that has lost four of its last six games.
The Red Oak boys' team will be home Monday night to play Fremont-Mills.
Both Red Oak teams will be back in action Tuesday night when they host Shenandoah.
Basketball Doubleheader: Villisca vs. Audubon @ Audubon High School- 6 p.m.
Girls
The Blue Jays girls' basketball team looks to keep the momentum rolling against Audubon Thursday night. Villisca wiped out Clarinda Academy, 76-10.
They will play an Audubon team that has been on a hot streak as of late though. Audubon has gone 10-2 since starting the season with an 0-3 record. They have won five straight games and all but one were by double-digit points.
The girls' will be back in action Tuesday night against Stanton.
Boys
With two straight wins, Villisca looks to make it three when they play Audubon in the second half of the varsity doubleheader. They picked up a big win Tuesday night over Clarinda Academy, 52-51.
Audubon enters the game Thursday night with a 3-12 record, having lost their last four games, including Tuesday night against Riverside.
Villisca will be back in action Friday night when they take on South Page in College Springs.
