Sports Calendar plus Scoreboard
Boys basketball: Villisca 60, Red Oak 58
Travis Herzberg free throws at the end of overtime made the difference in the game as the Blue Jays picked up the win over Red Oak.
Herzberg scored a team high 20 points to lead Villisca to victory. Tanner Johnson led Red Oak with 18 points in the loss.
Villisca will be in action Tuesday night when they play Clarinda Academy. As for Red Oak, they're off until Thursday, when they head to Neola to take on Tri-Center.
Here's a look at some of the other games taking place Tuesday night.
Girls Basketball: Red Oak vs. Stanton- 6:15 p.m. @ Stanton High School
This will be the first meeting between both teams since the 2006 season.
Stanton enters into Tuesday night's game with a 10-game win streak. They're fresh off a third straight Corner Conference Tournament title.
Red Oak lost Friday night to the fifth ranked team in Class 3A, the Glenwood Rams.
The Tigers will play their final road game of the season Thursday night in Neola against Tri-Center. Red Oak will play their final four games after that at home.
Stanton will be on the road Friday night when they play the East Mills Wolverines.
Boys Basketball: Stanton vs. South Page- 7:45 p.m. @ Stanton High School
The Vikings will try to get back to .500 for the season and end their three-game losing skid when they play host to South Page.
Stanton got a win over South Page, 54-36, on Dec. 6. South Page will also try to end a three-game losing skid. The Rebels last win was Jan. 5 against West Nodaway (Mo.).
Basketball Doubleheader: Villisca vs. Clarinda Academy @ Villisca High School
With the boys' getting a win Monday night, they'll try to win their second in a row. Clarinda Academy is coming off of a fourth place finish at the Corner Conference Tournament.
On the girls' side, Villisca will look to rebound from their Friday night loss to Stanton as they play a Clarinda Academy team that has won once all season.
Both Villisca teams will be in action Thursday night when they take on Audubon.
Basketball Doubleheader: Essex vs. Fremont-Mills- 6:15 p.m. @ Fremont-Mills High School in Tabor
Girls
The Trojanettes will have their hands full Tuesday night as they try to shut down Corner Conference leading scorer Macy Williams. Essex hasn't played since Jan. 16, when they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Corner Conference Tournament.
Fremont-Mills is coming off of a third place finish at the Corner Conference Tournament.
Boys
This will be the second time the two boys' teams play each other in a week. Fremont-Mills won last Tuesday, 57-32.
The Knights however are trying to recover from their stunning loss to Sidney in the Corner Conference Championship game Saturday night.
The Trojans last win was Jan. 14 against Heartland Christian.
Both Essex teams will be in action Friday night against Clarinda Academy.
There will be other doubleheaders going on Tuesday night, like Griswold vs. A-H-S-T and East Mills vs. Nishnabotna.
