Sports Calendar: June 9
It's going to be a hot one for Tuesday as the sports action continues. Temperatures are expected to reach the 90s this afternoon, so please stay cool and be careful.
In Des Moines, the state co-ed tennis tournament kicked off earlier this morning. Red Oak will have competitors at the tournament. It will be the last event of the spring sports season.
Around here, both Red Oak baseball and softball teams will be in action as they take on Clarinda as part of a JV/varsity doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m.
The softball varsity team will try to get their first conference win of the season.
Meanwhile, the baseball varsity team hasn't played a full game in over a week. Their triangular from Saturday got rained out. They've only played twice this season.
In Corner conference action, the East Mills baseball team goes on the road for a doubleheader with Logan-Magnolia. The action kicks off at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Griswold is back home Tuesday night as they host CAM as part of a JV/varsity doubleheader for both softball and baseball starting at 6 p.m. (NOTE: The baseball varsity game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start)
In Pride of Iowa action, Southwest Valley's softball and baseball teams compete Tuesday night as they go to Greenfield for JV/varsity doubleheaders against Nodaway Valley. The first game starts at 6 p.m.
