Sports Calendar: June 10

It's Wednesday and the summer sports season proceeds on as temperatures are expected to reach the 90s once again. There are also chances of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast.

The Red Oak softball team will be home once again Wednesday as they host Southwest Valley as part of a JV/varsity doubleheader. Red Oak is coming off a 9-3 loss Tuesday night to Clarinda. Meanwhile, Southwest Valley has won two straight after its 4-3 victory Tuesday night at Nodaway Valley. The JV/varsity doubleheader starts at 5:30 p.m.

The Southwest Valley baseball team will also be competing Wednesday night, but not in Red Oak. Instead, they travel to Osceola for a JV/varsity doubleheader against Clarke that starts at 5:30 p.m. Southwest Valley will try to recover from their 14-4 loss to Nodaway Valley in which they gave up 10 runs in the fifth. Clarke meanwhile is fresh off a doubleheader sweep of Centerville Monday night.

Elsewhere, both Stanton teams are home Wednesday evening as they host a doubleheader against Orient-Macksburg starting at 6 p.m. with softball.

The Stanton softball team is fresh off a 22-1 blowout win in three innings against Nishnabotna Monday night. Orient-Macksburg remains winless on the season. They were scheduled to play Moravia Tuesday night, but a final score wasn't available.

In the baseball match-up, Stanton will try to overcome its heartbreaking late-game loss to Nishnabotna from Monday night. Orient-Macksburg has gotten back on track thanks to wins this week over the Iowa Christian Academy and Moravia.

The Griswold softball team will go on the road as they play Tri-Center. The action starts at 5 p.m. with the freshmen game.
