Sports Calendar: April 23

We have a busy day on the sports calendar. There's no shortage of activities planned for Thursday.

The day starts off around the area with tennis. The Red Oak boys tennis team will host a triangular against Lewis Central and St. Albert. Red Oak plays Lewis Central first at 12:30 p.m. at the Red Oak High School tennis courts. At 2:30 p.m., it will be Lewis Central and St. Albert facing off. Finally, Red Oak plays St. Albert at 4:30 p.m.

The Red Oak girls tennis team meanwhile plays only one meet for Thursday as they go to Council Bluffs to face Lewis Central. The meet is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.

Also appearing in Council Bluffs will be the Red Oak girls golf team as they compete at the Lewis Central tournament. That tournament is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.

There are a couple of track meets scheduled around the area. In boys track, it will be Griswold playing host as Southwest Valley is among the teams scheduled to compete. That meet will start at 5 p.m.

Speaking of Griswold, while distance runner Rebekah Topham will be busy at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, the rest of her team will be on the road as they go to Corning to compete at Southwest Valley's meet. Red Oak, Essex, East Mills and Stanton are all scheduled to compete. That meet starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Timberwolf Football and Track Complex.

In other golf action, Southwest Valley will be home as they host Creston and Shenandoah in triangular action. The meet starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Happy Hollow Country Club.
