Southwest Valley girls track has high numbers but low experience

Griswold girls track will have a difficult task of replacing a runner who won 11 championships in her career and is now running at Wichita State.

Rebekah Topham is no longer on the roster for Griswold. After competing for the final time in Des Moines she told the Des Moines Register, “I can’t believe it’s all over. I can’t believe where all the time went.”

For head coach T.J. Quick, it’s about who is on the roster this season.

He has 20 athletes on his roster this season, including Rebekah’s sister Joanna Topham.

Griswold also has some experience going into the season. They went the indoor meet at Iowa State early in March.

Hannah Boucher, Faith Rossell, Payton Rush, Anna Young, Charli Adams, Jeana Freund, Mandi Backhaus and Mateya Peters all participated in Ames before the season. Griswold starts its season March 31 at Audubon.
