Southwest Valley eliminated in 2A regional semifinals

 STUART — The Southwest Valley volleyball season came to an end Friday night in the 2A regional semifinals when they lost to Woodward-Granger at West Central Valley High School.

Woodward-Granger won all three games 25-9, 25-16 and 25-18.

The Timberwolves were held to 14 kills in the loss. Marie Palmer had six of those kills in her final match as a Southwest Valley volleyball player. Palmer also had five digs and a block.

Lexi Bronner also played her final match for Southwest Valley by recording four kills, three digs and two block assists.

Danica Sunderman had three kills, while Jade Petersen had one.

Taylor Damewood had all 14 of Southwest Valley’s assists. Kim Hults had nine digs to lead the team.

It was also the final match for Hults, Petersen, Kelsey Means, Allie Bronner, Janelle Gibler and Nichole Bashor, who are also seniors.

Southwest Valley 3, Earlham 0

The Timberwolves reached the 2A semifinals thanks to a win in the quarterfinals versus Earlham last Tuesday.

Southwest Valley won the match 25-23, 26-24 and 25-23.

Palmer had 16 kills, along with seven digs.

Petersen and Bronner each had five kills, while Sunderman finished with four.

Damewood had 21 assists, while Hults had eight digs.

Southwest Valley recorded 15 total blocks in the win. Bronner led with five, while Means had four.

The Timberwolves also had 13 aces in the win. Petersen, Damewood and Hults each had three. Bronner had two, while Palmer and Means each recorded one.

Southwest Valley finished 15-12 this season.
