Southwest Iowa pregnancy center names Rohrig as new executive director

Rev. Ricky Rohrig, Sr. has been named the executive director of the Pregnancy Center of Southwest Iowa.

The center, located at 406 N. 3rd St. in Red Oak, hired Rohrig for the part-time position to take over many of the duties for the center’s management.

Rohrig is the founder and pastor at Crossroads Community Church in Red Oak and serves as the chaplain at the Good Samaritan Society in both Red Oak and Villisca. He said his new position will not take away time from his other responsibilities.

According to Rohrig, the position will require him to work around eight hours a week, and his list of duties will include coordinating volunteers, networking with other pregnancy centers and pro-life centers and acting as a liaison between the board of directors and volunteers.

Rohrig has volunteered with the center for a while because “[he] just loves people.”

The center offers “free and confidential services to any woman, regardless of her situation,” according to their website.

Services offered include free pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, medical and social services referrals, adoption referrals and information on options for women.

Rohrig said the cause is “very near and dear to [his] heart because [he] was adopted at three days old.”

According to the pastor, the experience will be worth it if he can “just change one life, save one life.”

More information on the center can be found at pcsi.care or by calling 621-2117.
