Scoreboard: Stanton, East Mills win in first round of playoffs

Here are some scores from the first round of the state football playoffs, which took place Wednesday night.

Stanton 60, Ar-We-Va 13

Greg Focht had two rushing touchdowns, as well as a punt return for a touchdown in Wednesday night's win over Ar-We-Va.

Focht finished the game with 99 yards rushing on 14 carries. With the win, Stanton is now 8-2 for the season.

The Vikings play Monday night against Fremont-Mills. Fremont-Mills defeated Woodbine, 62-22. We'll have much more on Stanton's game in Tuesday's edition of the Red Oak Express.

East Mills 65, Boyer Valley 22

The difference in the game was a two minute span in the third quarter, when East Mills scored three touchdowns, with two of those touchdowns being five seconds apart.

The first touchdown was a 23-yard reception by Daniel Duysen. Immediately after the kickoff recovery by Colby Jennings, Charlie Ruff caught a 14-yard touchdown pass. This gave East Mills a 46-14 lead.

The final touchdown during that span was a 15-yard reception by Kaleb Richter, which then gave the Wolverines a 53-14 lead.

East Mills will now play Glidden-Ralston on Friday night, who defeated Sidney 50-14.
