Scoreboard: Stanton advances to semifinals

STANTON — The Stanton Viqueens defeated the Riverside Bulldogs Tuesday night, 3-0, at home, in the quarterfinals of 1A regionals.

Stanton won 25-12, 25-8 and 25-15. The Viqueens serves were solid for the night, as the team finished with 13 serving aces, seven coming courtesy of Roey Sink.

Rachel Sorensen led the night with 10 kills out of 17 attack attempts for the Viqueens.

With the win, Stanton now is in the semifinals as they will take on the Nishnabotna Blue Devils, who defeated Fremont-Mills Tuesday night, 3-0. The match will take place Friday night in Tabor.

In other regional action Tuesday night, Corning knocked off Bedford, 3-2, in Bedford.

Corning struck first winning the first two games 25-14 and 25-21. Bedford responded by winning games three and four 25-20 and 25-15. The decisive fifth game went to Corning, 15-3.

Corning will go on to the semifinals to face Lamoni, who defeated Mount Ayr, 3-0.
