Scoreboard: Red Oak girls' tennis advances to semifinals

STORM LAKE — The Red Oak girls' tennis team defeated Spirit-Lake Okoboji on Monday to advance in the state team tennis tournament.

Red Oak defeated Spirit Lake-Okoboji, 5-3. The difference in the matcch was Red Oak winning four of six singles matches.

Rosa Brunner defeated Holly Seemann 6-0 and 6-0 to give the Tigers the edge in singles.

Emily Pierson and Paige Vannausdle won 6-1 and 6-1 over Hannah Koenen and Jamie Kohlhaas.

Red Oak is joined in the final four with Dubuque Wahlert.

Two more first round state matches will take place on Tuesday. Ballard will face Waterloo Columbus in Marshalltown at 3 p.m. Holy Trinity meanwhile will battle Camanche in Iowa City, also at 3 p.m.

The final four teams will meet in Waterloo on June 4.
