School district renovations running smoothly

Work on the Red Oak High School and Inman Primary continues.

Superintendent Tom Messenger said district administrators have been holding regular meetings with the staff of Boyd Jones, and so far, there have been no new potential change orders presented at the meetings.

“The construction is in full swing. The walls are being erected on the high school campus surrounding the new gym and the new kitchen area. There is still some work to be done around the elevator shaft area and the foundation along the southwest corner of the existing building,” Messenger said. “There will be a new, deeper pit installed for the sump pump pit in that area to handle ground water disposal. The iron workers are waiting anxiously to get started on the beams at the top of the gym addition. The beams are on site and work will begin shortly. The painters will be starting on portions of the new locker room area of the existing space. Work continues to be done on the new classroom addition of IPS,”

Messenger added the lights have been installed and are working on the north side of the existing high school, and light up the sidewalk area from the tech center to the student parking lot. The parking lot lights are also up and working in the student parking lot. Mid-American Energy is working on the lights at the staff parking lot and they should be back up and running shortly.
