ROCIA cancels Junction Days for 2020

 Red Oak's annual Junction Days event, scheduled to take place later this summer, has been cancelled.

Red Oak Chamber and Industry director of membership and finance, Elaine Carlson, said the decision to cancel Junction Days was made at a special meeting April 29, with the Red Oak Chamber & Industry Association Board of Directors

"The board voted to make the difficult decision to cancel Junction Days 2020. After much discussion, the board felt a strong responsibility to the health and wellbeing of our community & surrounding areas," said Carlson.

Carlson said the hard-pressed decision was based on the current restrictions and guidelines concerning large group gatherings, social distancing and the unknown of when those restrictions will be lifted by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. Still, Carlson said they are looking forward to next year. 

"It was not an easy decision to cancel our community’s largest event. We look forward to celebrating our community and the challenges we have overcome at Junction Days 2021," commented Carlson.
