Robert Shearer, Jr., 65

Robert Louis Shearer, Jr., 65, Emerson, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at the Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah.
Rob Shearer was born Feb. 6, 1957, in Red Oak, the son of Robert Shearer, Sr. and Jane (Sheets) Shearer. He was raised near Elliott, graduating from Griswold High School in 1975.
Rob was united in marriage to Michelle King on Aug. 20, 1977, at the Stratton United Methodist Church near Red Oak. Over the years they lived in many different places throughout Iowa, settling in Emerson in 1993. His jobs included working for Rogers Plumbing and Heating in Red Oak, Standard Chemical in Malvern, Neil’s Service in Malvern, John Deere in Shenandoah, Rhoden Auto Center in Council Bluffs, and retired after 20 years of service from Nishna Valley/East Mills Community School District in 2019.
Rob was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge of Emerson, and now Carson, and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. His hobbies include mechanics, model trains, woodworking especially with his scroll saw, cross stitching, video games, fishing, camping, boating, and he enjoyed the outdoors.
Preceding him in death were his father, Robert Shearer, Sr.; brother, Richard Shearer; nephews, Travis Shearer and David Daugherty; mother-in-law, Rene King; father-in-law, Eugene King; and brother-in-law, Rick Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Shearer of Emerson; daughter, Krystal Shearer of Des Moines; mother, Jane Shearer of Red Oak; siblings, Bill Shearer of Atlantic; Russ Shearer of Griswold; Steve Shearer of Manson; Julia Daugherty of Breda; and Jeff Shearer of Red Oak; step-mother-in-law, Betty Hossle of Emerson; brothers-in-law, Mike King and wife Cindy of Jay, Okla.; Dennis Porter of Rogers, Ark.; and Allen Porter of Elliott; sisters-in-law, Vicki Kudron and husband Phil of Emerson, and Nancy Nelson of Elliott; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Hope Lodge in Omaha, Neb.
