RO school renovations moving along

The Red Oak School District’s facilities renovation project at Inman Primary School is nearing completion.

“The finishing touches are being put on the rooms and the windows and doors are all being installed. The project has really gone well. The final stages of the project will be completed, and the state fire inspector will give the final approval for use. We will not be using the new area for the end of the school year, but having it done means some of the moving may start as soon as the school year is over,” said Red Oak Superintendent Tom Messinger.

He added, the high school campus project is also progressing nicely.

“The permanent solution for the water in the boiler room is being worked on. There are two different bids for the work, and the goal is to find a way to channel the water below the surface to a sump pump, so the floor does not show any signs of excessive moisture,” said Messinger.

According to Messinger, the activities building is completely enclosed. The surface of the floor is still the dirt surface, and work is ongoing.

“They are working to dry it all out so they may begin with the concrete work on the inside of the building. There have been committee meetings to make recommendations for furnishings inside the building. Mr. Deter has been working with the electrical engineer to make sure we have all tech needs addressed and the preparations scheduled,” commented Messinger.

Messinger also said everything still seems to be progressing according to the original timeline. The main portion of the building will be operational for the start of the 2019-20 school year and the gym and cafeteria will be completed midyear.
