Response to garage fire appreciated

 Dear Editor:

Most people in their lifetime will never have to call the fire department, ambulance or the police. We appreciate them, are glad they are there to protect us but never have to rely on them, personally.

Not until you really need them do you appreciate  their professionalism, helpfulness, and ability to calm you down in a frightening situation.

We so appreciate everyone involved who responded to our garage fire on Saturday: firemen, police, ambulance, 911 operator and our neighbors.

Small towns are awesome and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, especially in a bigger city with the turmoil some are experiencing.

We would especially like to mention Chief John Bruce, who on Monday talked to our two grandchildren that were with us that day. They were still unsettled about it, so he talked to them and  showed them the fire trucks, all the equipment and how they were used.
