Regional Volleyball Preview: Red Oak readies for 3A semifinals

The regional volleyball tournament continues with the semifinals for 3A, 4A and 5A.

The big area match-up in Class 3A Region 2 features Red Oak hosting West Central Valley. The match starts at 7 p.m. in the Red Oak High School gymnasium.

Red Oak cruised to an easy quarterfinals win Monday night against Atlantic. They play a West Central Valley team that defeated Saydel 3-1 Monday night in Stuart.

West Central Valley is 11-10 for the season. They're led by Bailee Arnburg, who has 130 kills this season.

Red Oak has a variety of options available to their discretion, including Grace Blomstedt, who had 16 kills in Monday's win against Atlantic.

The other semifinal match-up in Region 2 features Shenandoah against Chariton. The match will be played at Southwest Valley High School in Corning. Shenandoah defeated Clarinda 3-0 in the quarterfinals. Chariton meanwhile defeated Clarke 3-0 Monday night.

The winners of Red Oak/West Central Valley and Shenandoah/Chariton will face off in the regional final Tuesday night in Clarinda.

Elsewhere, the Region 1 semifinals features Kuemper Catholic hosting Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Sioux Center versus Sheldon. The winners face off Tuesday night in Cherokee.

In Class 4A Region 2, the semifinals feature Harlan against Carlisle and Dallas Center-Grimes versus Perry. The winners face off Tuesday night in Perry.

Region 3 of Class 4A features ADM against Norwalk and Lewis Central versus Creston. The winners face each other in Atlantic Tuesday night.
