A Red Oak wedding: A shade better
We recently had a daughter get married in Red Oak and want to share with you why Red Oak truly is a “shade better.”
Since relatives were coming for the weekend wedding, we enjoyed hosting them for Thanksgiving. The Red Oak YMCA provided us with a fun (cold, windy) way to start the day at the Turkey Trot.
On Friday afternoon, one of the brides maids flew into town with her bridesmaid gown folded in her suitcase. Thanks to a very accommodating Schwesers, I had the gown steamed and wrinkle free by the time the bridesmaid had eaten her Subway sandwich. That evening, Pastor Caryn Pederson put some very nervous people totally at ease during the rehearsal. The Red Oak County Club provided us with a wonderfully festive setting (and delicious food) for the rehearsal supper.
On Saturday, Broadway Style’s Nichole and Kristi made the female half of the wedding party beautiful. The extended family was well fed and had a chance to visit in the party room of Pizza Ranch.
The Good Lord took care of the weather with unseasonably warm, sunny weather (or did Jerry Dietz have a hand in that?) so the wedding party got some great photographs taken in the beautiful downtown square of Red Oak. Later that night, we enjoyed seeing the Christmas lights on the square.
The Red Coach Inn could not have been a better location for the reception. Marge and Candace were especially helpful in the smooth check-in and check-outs of a full-hotel. Sara Culver of Culver Creations did an amazing job of carrying out the bride’s theme for décor for the reception. The meal prepared by Jed Westover and the kitchen staff was delicious (especially the pork roast). The Red Coach wait staff was efficient and pleasant. DJ Gregg Brower kept the party going late into the night. Sara Welsch’s cookies and Teresa Euken’s cake provided the “Love is Sweet” finish to a tasty meal. Rose Taylor and Randy Orme have put together a very efficient operation of the Red Coach catering business.
Red Oak truly has a fantastic array of vendors available for special occasions. Our many out of town guests were impressed with the “small town” hospitality they experienced. Red Oak, you shone bright this past weekend.
We heartily recommend this combination of Red Oak vendors to anyone trying to plan a wedding. The above combination took much stress out of a wonderful life event and allowed us to just enjoy the weekend. Red Oak is a shade better!
