Red Oak ties for sixth at Fillie Relays
SHENANDOAH — The Red Oak girls track team tied for sixth out of 11 teams at the Fillie Relays on Thursday in Shenandoah.
Red Oak scored 53 points during the meet, tying them with Bedford.
The 4x200 relay team, which consisted of Erica Jackson, Maddy Mann, Blake Bergren and Caitlin Smith, took second with a time of 1:51.77.
The 4x400 team also had a second place finish, running 4:36.04.
The team of Jackson, Mann, Smith and Jutta Hollt finished second in the 4x100 meter relay.
Caitlin Smith earned a third place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.62 seconds.
Josie Snyder took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.15, one-tenth of a second behind Mount Ayr's Madi Hosfield.
Caitlyn Soden placed sixth in the 1,500 meter race, running a time of 6:27.25.
In a packed field, Blake Bergren finished fourth in the long jump, jumping 15'5”. Bergren finished behind the Villisca tandem of Courtney Auxier and Morganne Haer, but ahead of Avery Taylor and Paige Peterson.
Kristi Yardas also earned a fourth place result with her efforts in the shot put. Yardas threw 30'7”.
Red Oak finished third at the Tiger Relays in Griswold, last Tuesday.
The Tigers took third out of six teams that competed, scoring 97 points.
Josie Snyder won the high jump for the Tigers, jumping 4'7”. Andrea Miller placed fourth in the high jump for Red Oak.
The 4x200 team secured the only other win for Red Oak, running 1:58.23.
Red Oak placed second in five different events, including three individually. Caitlin Smith ran 28.56 seconds to place second in the 200-meter dash. Smith also finished third in the 100-meter dash.
Kristi Yardas threw 30'9” to finish second in the shot put.
In the long jump, Blake Bergren took second with a jump of 14'7”.
The sprint medley and 4x400 meter relay teams were the only relay teams for Red Oak with second place finishes.
The distance medley team secured third with a run of 5:04.65.
Some of the team will be competing in Treynor for the Treynor Invitational on Thursday.
