Red Oak sweeps Creston in Hawk 10 action
The Red Oak volleyball teams swept Creston Thursday, Sept. 26 with wins from the freshmen, JV, and varsity teams.
The Tigers defeated the Panthers 25-11, 25-6, 25-19.
Sophie Walker ended the night with a double double, getting 10 kills, 14 digs, and added two blocks, five aces. The Tigers’ 10 consecutive points in the second set off of Walker’s serves extended the Red Oak lead to 20-5, leading to the win.
Chloe Johnson had 13 kills, seven digs, one ace; Lexi Johnson five kills, eight digs, two blocks; Allie West four kills, one assist, nine digs, one block; Tory Carrick one kill, two assists, three digs, block; Abbey Jones one kill, 14 assists, three digs, two aces; Ellie Rengstorf one kill, 14 assists, eight digs, one block, three aces; and Chloe DeVries three assists.
JV
The JV team defeated Creston 24-26, 25-21, 15-9.
Carrick had 13 kills, 14 digs for a double double; Liz Carbaugh nine kills; C. DeVries had 19 assist; Lennon O’Neal 10 assists, four aces; Payten Bass was eight for eight serving with one ace; Jaylyn VanHouten was seven for seven serving with two aces; and Ashlyn Blackman nine digs.
Freshmen
Red Oak defeated Creston 18-25, 25-18, 15-13.
Lainey DeVries had six kills, one ace; Chloe Edie one kill, two aces; Estefany Medina one kill; and Bridget Archer one ace.
“Madison Doyle racked up a few assists for our attackers, while Lexi Meier dug up multiple balls for our defense,” coach Dana Ramirez said.
Harlan
The freshmen team traveled to Harlan on Monday, Sept 23, for tournament action and ended the day in third place with a 2-2 record.
The Tigers fell to Glenwood 21-9, 21-9 and Harlan 21-9, 21-11, and defeated Nodaway Valley 21-17, 21-12 and AHSTW 21-18, 21-12.
L. DeVries totaled 11 kills, six aces, three blocks; Archer seven kills, one ace; Medina one ace; Bella Glassel one ace; Doyle three aces; and Meier one ace.
