Red Oak seeking High School Sports Hall of Fame nominations
RED OAK — The Red Oak High School athletic department is calling for nominees for the Red Oak Sports Hall of Fame.
Athletes are eligible for nomination 10 years after graduation. Additional criteria includes playing multiple sports, character, as well as special awards with the high school career, for example receiving all-conference or all state honors.
The criteria for coaches covers years of service, career record, awards and the year of retirement.
For athletic directors, the criteria covers years of service, awards, special events or items that happened during their service (for example re-surfacing the track and renovating the gym), as well as year of retirement.
Nominations must be submitted by the end of the day May 1 to Red Oak High School.
Mail nominations can be sent to Jeff Spotts, Assistant Principal/AD, at Red Oak High School, 2011 North 8th. St., Red Oak, IA 51566.
They can also be sent via e-mail to spottsj@roschools.com.
The selection committee will gather and select recipient(s) and an announcement is expected by the end of May.
The Hall of Fame inductee(s) will be honored during Homecoming festivities.
