Red Oak PPEL vote today

Polls will be open today for Red Oak Community School District patrons to vote on whether to renew a physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL). 

Voting is at the Gold Fair Building in Red Oak from noon to 8 p.m.

The district’s PPEL has been in place since 2009. The voted is about a continuation of the existing levy. If approved, the extension will go into effect in 2020. 

The PPEL has been used for district technology; equipment, including scoreboards, vehicles, utility equipment, and security cameras; and repairs and maintenance, such as sidewalk replacements, water damage, boiler maintenance agreements, carpeting, and floor tiles. Officials said that approval of the PPEL would be instrumental as school officials continue plans to renovate the district to a two-campus scenario.
