Red Oak golf falls at home to Griswold
RED OAK — The Red Oak golf teams began the 2014 season with losses at home to Griswold Thursday.
The boys lost to Griswold 183-193, while the girls lost 229-257. Despite the losses, each Red Oak team had a runner-up medalist.
Nick Carlson had the runner-up medalist for the boys team when he shot a 43. James Reynolds was the medalist for Griswold as he had a 39.
For the girls, Ellen Fellers was the runner-up for Red Oak, shooting a 54. Fellers was five shots back of medalist Hadie Dalke.
After Carlson, Ryan Plambeck, who finished with a 47, was second for Red Oak. Nolan Black shot a 51, while Connor Johnson had a 52. Gil Cooper finished with a 58 and Gabe Nelson recorded a 62.
For the Griswold boys, Treighton Oakleaf shot a 45, while Jacob Reynolds had a 48. Tyrel Peters recorded a 51, while Tyler Wyman shot a 53. Joe Schoning was the final finisher for Griswold with a 60.
For the girls, Reilley Black had a 62, while Shelbie Perez finished with a 66. Sadie Uhlenberg shot a 75 and Lauren Gilbert recorded a 79.
For the Griswold girls, Marlia Rossell had a 57, while Beth Berg shot a 60 and Carley Kaiser recorded a 62. Regan Whitehill was the final finisher for Griswold as she finished with a 75.
The Red Oak golf team was scheduled to face Southwest Valley Monday, but the meet was postponed because of weather.
Tuesday, the Red Oak boys golf team will be competing at a tournament in Shenandoah. The tournament starts at 1:30 p.m.

The Griswold golf teams meanwhile return to action Tuesday when they go to Neola to take on Tri-Center.
