Red Oak finishes 11th, 10th at recent girls track meets

CORNING — The Red Oak girls track and field team finished 11th at the Corning Girls Invitational, held at Corning High School Thursday.

Red Oak finished with seven points, tying them with Nishnabotna, out of the 14 team field. Interstate 35-Truro won the team title with a score of 108 points.

Maddy Mann and Gabi French had the individual highlights for the meet. Mann finished fifth in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 13.84 seconds.

French finished tied for fifth in the high jump, jumping 4'6”.
Red Oak had two fifth place finishes in the relay meets. Both finishes were in the 4x100 and 4x200. In the 4x100, the team of Mann, Mara Kreibitzsch, Nikki Graber and Erica Jackson ran a time of 56 seconds.

In the 4x200, the team of Graber, Jackson, Mann and French ran a time of 1:57.18, just a couple seconds behind Clarinda.

Last Tuesday, Red Oak finished 10th out of 16 at the Cardette Relays, held at Treynor High School. Red Oak finished with a team score of 16 points.

Red Oak had several top finishers at the Treynor Meet. Mann had a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.30 seconds, three-tenths ahead of East Mills’ Kendra Croghan.

French finished fourth in the high jump, with a jump of 4’4”.

The 4x200 team, featuring Graber, Jackson, Mann and French finished third with a time of 1:52.32. The 4x100 team, meanwhile, took fifth with a time of 55.41 seconds.

Red Oak's lone meet for this week will be in Osceola to take part in the Clarke Invitational.
