Red Oak falls to Mount Vernon in first round

CEDAR RAPIDS— The Red Oak Tigers volleyball season ended Wednesday night after losing to the top-ranked Mount Vernon Mustangs 3-0, in Cedar Rapids.

Red Oak lost the match 25-14, 25-8 and 25-5. Red Oak finished the night with 15 kills and 16 errors with junior Gabi French led the Tigers with six kills.
Mount Vernon finished the match with 35 kills and scored 13 serving aces.
Adrienne Mahoney led in assists with eight and Kristi Yardas led in digs with seven. The appearance marks Red Oak’s first trip to State since the 2007 season. With the loss, the Tigers finished the season with a 22-12 record.
