Red Oak driver: A rant or speaking the truth?

 Dear Editor,

This is going to sound like a rant, but to me it will be an opportunity to speak my thoughts on maybe a better way to use the frontage road in Red Oak and also not cause angry drivers!

This bitter feeling has been brewing since I moved here some odd number of years ago.

Red Oak has two busy roads and they happen to be highways. I know this is strange but Highway 34 that goes east/west is a highway as is Broadway that intersects with 34. If you want to go west then it is super easy  due to a four-way stop.  Now if you want to go east on 34, that seems to be the kicker because there is a yield sign and a ramp. For some odd reason, that gets a lot of drivers confused. It gets the people behind the confused drivers angry! For anyone that does not know about yielding get off the road, take your drivers license and throw it away because you should not be driving. Yield means yield to traffic not come to a complete stop and then proceed to go 25 MPH!  Ugh.

Now Highway 34 going east, there are businesses located on the frontage road. Get on the road earlier! For the love of God stay on Frontage Road until you get to the business.  Do not drive all the way on 34 at a side road speed to only use your blinker five feet in front of the turn. You are dangerous and can cause an accident. Remember it is a highway and the speed limit is 50 mph!

Just food for thought when you are approaching Highway 34 next time!
