Red Oak boys race to fourth place finish at Creston XC

Creston crowded the course with a two-class, six-division cross country meet that included more than 20 schools.

Red Oak team competed in the A class, and the boys finished fourth of 10 while the girls placed ninth of 10. Creston gave out medals for those placing in the top 25, which included Baylor Bergren, Justin McCunn, Bruce Lukehart, Luis Galicia, and Nolan Blackman in the boys division, and Alexa McCunn on the girls side.

Southwest Valley boys placed eighth and Essex ninth in the Class B division; Southwest Valley girls finished in sixth place; and Griswold boys competed in the B class, but did not have enough runners to field a team.

Medalists from the smaller school class included Sydney Davis, Aubrey Boswell, Julia Means, Adam Harris, Brayden Avila, and Trent Newton from Southwest Valley

“The Timberwolves finished the night with six medalists, six new PRs, and a number of season best times,” Southwest Valley head coach Jason Hults said. “I was very happy to see the times coming down with the new PRs and the other kids who ran season best times. As we are at the midpoint of our season, it’s good to see those times starting to improve. We need to continue to push ourselves as we look toward the conference and state qualifying meets in October.”
