Red Oak bowling wins at Holiday Tournament

COUNCIL BLUFFS—The Red Oak bowling teams once again took home first place at the Holiday Tournament at the Lightning Bowl in Council Bluffs Friday afternoon.

The girls won with a team score of 2,314, winning by more than 300 pins against runner-up Abraham Lincoln. The boys won the tournament with a score of 2,765, 275 pins better than Abraham Lincoln.

Hayden Berry and Dylin Keat were first and second individually for the boys, as Berry bowled a 401 with a 234 high game, while Keat had a 392, thanks to a 244 high game.

Maranda Myers finished second overall individually as she bowled a 350 series with a 194 high game. Jayden Hilding and Shelby Storesund both bowled 300 series’ at the tournament. Hilding had  a 309 with a 162 high game and Storesund had a 300, with help from a 155 high game.

Kendra Hardy and Kaitlin Walston both missed out on a 300 series. Hardy finished with a 298 series, whilewhile Walston recorded a 291.

Allison Aufdenberg was the other bowler on varsity as she recorded a 272.

Additional finishers for the boys’ team include David Terry, who had a 353 series, courtesy of a 190 high game, Casey Dykes, who finished with a 340 series and Shane Majerus, who bowled a 200 in the first game to finish with a 322. Additionally, Chase Rea had a 281 series with a  143 high game.

Red Oak vs. Creston

The Red Oak bowling teams split their matches last Tuesday at Panther Lanes against the Creston Panthers.

Red Oak’s boys team won 2,566-2,448, while the girls lost 2,513-2,183.

The boys won without any of the bowlers recording a 400 series.

Dykes led the way for the varsity team by bowling a 372 series with a 193 high game.

Keat was right behind Dykes by bowling a 370 series with a 215 high game.

Berry had a 339 series, while Rea had a 336 with a 172 high game.

Terry had a 328 series with a 178 high game and Majerus finished with a 258 series and 134 high game. Myers led the way for the girls by recording a 330 series and 176 high game.

Storesund and Aufdenberg both had 300 series’ with Storesund having 304 and Aufdenberg 300.

Hardy had a 286, Walston a 282 and Hilding a 269 series.

The junior varsity teams also had a split in their meet. The JV boys won 1,886-1,727, while the JV girls lost 1,692-1,259.

Red Oak will be on the road Tuesday afternoon as they face Lewis Central.
