Accident Reports

On Sept. 13, at 2:48 p.m., officers were called to the Red Oak High School parking lot for a hit and run accident. The owner of a 2006 Honda Civic, Natacia Raynae Houston, was leaving school when she noticed that someone had struck the left rear quarter panel of her vehicle. The damage is estimated at $1,000. The person who struck Houston’s vehicle has not reported it to her or to law enforcement. The investigation remains open.

On Sept. 13, at 4:35 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle personal injury accident at Hwy. 48 and 270th St., six miles south of Red Oak. A white 2008 Chrysler Van owned by Interstate Enterprises LTD, of Emerson, and operated by Rebecca S. Wright, 56, of Red Oak was southbound on Hwy. 48. A 2000 Freightliner Tanker Truck owned by United Farmers Mercantile of Red Oak, and operated by Louis M. Saner, 73, of Shenandoah, was also southbound on Hwy. 48, directly behind the van. The freightliner attempted to pass the van in a no passing zone as the van was attempting a turn onto 270th St. from the Hwy. and struck the van.
Wright was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for minor and possible injuries.
Saner was issued a citation for passing in an intersection.
