ACCIDENTS
• On Nov. 23, at 11:47 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two vehicle accident in the 1600 block of E. Summit St. Marcia Lehman, 64, Griswold, driving a 1996 Dodge Dakota pickup, was traveling west on Summit Street. Hugo Lepe Duenas, 47, Red Oak, driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade, was following the Lehman vehicle. Lehman began to turn into a parking lot and the Lepe Duenas vehicle began to go around, spun out on the slick street, and the rear of the vehicle struck the Lehman vehicle. Damage to the Lehman vehicle was about $400, and damage to the Lepe Duenas vehicle was about $600. There were no injuries, and no citations were issued due to the weather and street conditions.
• On Nov. 23, at 12:09 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 800 block of East Summit Street. Drue Powers, 59, Red Oak, driving a 2103 Ford Explorer, was traveling east on Summit St. Malachi Hayes, 25, Adair, driving a 2007 Ford Fusion, was traveling west on Summit Street. The Hayes vehicle was traveling down the hill, was unable to make the curve because of the slick conditions, and slid into the Powers vehicle. Damage to the Powers vehicle was about $12,000, and damage to the Hayes vehicle was about $5,000. No citations were issued.
• On Nov. 26, at 2:42 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 6th and Joy streets. Austin Hale, 22, Red Oak, driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z, was traveling north on 6th Street. Lois Echternach, 58, Red Oak, driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was traveling east on Joy Street. Echternach was almost through the uncontrolled intersection when the rear of her vehicle was struck by the Hale vehicle. Damage to the Hale vehicle was about $4,000, and damage to the Echternach vehicle was about $1,000. There were no injuries, and no citations were issued.
