Gwen Vanderhoof, 32, Elliott, driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus, was traveling west on 200th Street. Because her vehicle was smoking, she pulled it over onto the gravel shoulder. She was going too fast and lost control, going over a driveway, striking a culvert, going over another driveway and then coming to rest. The car caught fire and was extinguished by the Red Oak Fire Department. Damage to the vehicle was about $3,000, and it was considered a total loss. No citations were issued. Vanderhoof was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue.
