ACCIDENTS
• On Oct. 29, at 9:43 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 4th and Valley streets. Nicholas Crouse, 28, Red Oak, driving a 2010 Ford F15 pick-up, was traveling north on 4th Street. Bryceton Flathers, 29, Exira, driving a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban, was traveling west on Valley Street and, according to the report, did not stop at the yield sign and his vehicle struck the Crouse vehicle. Flathers stated his brakes did not work, and officers noticed there wasn’t much brake fluid in the container. Damage to the Crouse vehicle was about $4,000, and damage to the Flathers vehicle was about $2,000. Flathers was cited for failing to yield from a yield sign and received a warning for defective brakes.
• On Nov. 1, at 3:28 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 4th and Maple streets. Nancy Hoffman, 65, Red Oak, driving a 2014 Kia Sorento, was traveling east on Maple Street when, according to the report, she failed to yield at the yield sign on 4th Street and her vehicle entered the intersection where it broadsided a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Aaron Schmid, 42, Red Oak. Damage to the Hoffman vehicle was about $2,000, and damage to the Schmid vehicle was about $4,000. No injuries were reported, and Hoffman was cited for failure to obey yield sign.
