ACCIDENTS

• On Oct. 3, at 1:33 p.m., Red Oak Police officers were called to the intersection of North 8th Street and East Coolbaugh Street for a two-vehicle accident. Kristian Schooling, 16, Red Oak, driving a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up owned by Tracy Schooling, Red Oak, was traveling south on 8th Street and approaching the intersection. Steven Hoppock, 60, Coffeyville, Kans., driving a 2013 Ford Edge, was traveling north on 8th Street and was at the intersection with Coolbaugh Street. According to the report, Hoppock was unaware that Coolbaugh Street was one-way west of 8th Street and turned into the front driver’s side corner of the Schooling vehicle. Hoppock was cited for failing to yield – left turn.

• On Oct. 3, at 7:15 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 2nd and Oak streets. Thomas Mace, 26, Atlantic, driving a 2011 Dodge Caravan, was traveling south on 2nd Street and, according to the report, failed to yield right of way to traffic after leaving the stop sign. His vehicle then struck a 2006 Saturn Ion driven by Nathaniel Adkins, 36, Red Oak, which was traveling east on Oak Street. Each vehicle had about $5,000 damage and had to be towed from the scene. Mace was cited for fail to obey stop sign and yield right of way.

• On Oct. 7, at 4:08 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Broadway and Walnut Street. Annette Archer, 61, Red Oak, driving a 2002 Kia Rio, was traveling north on Broadway and according to the report was blinded by the sun and unable to see the other vehicle, a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by Albert Buehler, 63, Shenandoah, which was traveling south on Broadway. Archer turned left and struck the driver’s side of the Buehler vehicle. Damage to the Archer vehicle was about $1,000, and damage to the Buehler vehicle was estimated at $2,500. Archer was cited for unsafe turning.
