Incident Reports

Sometime between Oct. 13 at 9:45 p.m. and Oct. 14 at 11 a.m., person(s) unknown stole a metal flag post and Stanton Viking flag from the front yard of 103 W. 3rd St., Villisca. They are estimated at $40. This is the third flag and the second metal post that have been stolen from this yard. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Montgomery County Crimestoppers at 800-432-1001.

On Oct. 16, at 6:55 p.m., officers were called to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital emergency room on a report of a male individual that had come in with a gunshot wound. Upon further investigation, the man, identified as Luke Daniel Rinehart, 32, Red Oak, was found to have a single gunshot wound to his left arm. The bullet had entered and exited his left arm. The investigation concluded that Rinehart was at his residence loading a .22 caliber rifle when a round became lodged in the barrel. During the attempt to free the lodged round, the rifle discharged, striking Rinehart in the left bicep area. Rinehart was treated at MCMH for a minor injury.

Accident Reports

On Oct. 16, at about 6 p.m., officers were called to N. Highland Ave. and Summit St. for a two-vehicle accident. Molle Kae Lunkwitz had been driving northbound on Highland Ave. when she failed to stop at the stop sign. Her vehicle struck the vehicle of Lee Ernest Fellers on the right side. Damage to Lunkwitz’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000; damage to Fellers’ vehicles was estimated at $3,000. Lunkwitz was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and her vehicle was removed by a tow service. Fellers’ vehicle was able to be driven by his wife; he was transported to MCMH for further examination, although his condition did not appear life-threatening.
